Ｍistletoe 應該是算起來相對比較新的聖誕歌

榭寄生在西方傳統裡面一直是聖誕節的裝飾，習慣性掛在高處，有點像是聖誕紅，不過不是放在盆栽。

習俗

在聖誕節的傳統中，西方人習慣用mistletoe, 一種寄生性的植物，叫做"槲寄生"，高高掛在四處作為裝飾，有點像聖誕紅那樣，只不過是用掛的，不是放在盆栽內。
有個習俗是若你如果站在檞寄生下方時，有人要求親吻你，你可不能拒絕對方喔!

所以很多的聖誕電影就會最後大結局是男女主角在榭寄生下親吻

那這個習俗是怎麼來的呢？其實也是出自古典的北歐神話

傳說和平之神伯德，被邪惡之神洛基以世上唯一可致其死地的武器，也就是檞寄生所製的箭刺死。
伯德的母親-愛神費迦得知此事時悲痛萬分，於是和眾神拼命地挽救伯德的生命，最後終於成功地將他救活。費迦實在太感激了，便允諾只要有誰站在檞寄生下，便賜給那人一個親吻。
因此這個傳說不但造就了一個至今我們所熟悉的親吻習俗，也永遠將檞寄生象徵的含意，也就是愛、和平、寬恕保存下來，而這三者也正是耶誕節重要的精神所在

那份愛與和平演變至今，就成了這 "kiss under the mistletoe"的傳統囉！
